Abstract |
: |
Jigrine a polypharmaceutical herbal formulation containing aqueous extracts of 14 medicinal plants. It has been developed on the principles of unani system of medicine by Hamdard Waqf Laboratories, Delhi, and is widely used for liver ailments1.
Several studies on the mechanism of action, safety evaluation and anti-inflammatory activity of jigrine were reported earlier1,2,3,4,. Krunakar et al. (1997) reported anti-inflammatory activity of jigrine in rats4. It is well known that all the anti-inflammatory drugs produce ulcerogenic effect on gastric mucosa. The present study was design to evaluate the perse effect of jigrine on gastric mucosa of rats. Indomethacin was used as reference standard |
